The computer has brought powerful imaging tools together and offers amazing potential for creativity. Digital cameras range from small purse-size devices to professional studio machines. With the software available now one has unprecedented control over the final pictures that they can produce but as the technology develops the complexity also increases. Although there are automatic solutions which attempt to make digital imaging easier they often restrict real control and creativity. If you prefer drawing and painting then building pictures from scratch is also exciting. They don't have to look like computer art. All the non-photographic images on this site have been made entirely on an Apple Mac computer using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and Corel Painter.
It isn't difficult to get more out of your camera and computer but it can be bewildering at first. "Where do I start? What software is best? How do I get good prints from my pictures? I know the basics but want to learn more." Learning how to control and manipulate the images you get from your camera is both satisfying and fun.
I can offer personal digital imaging tuition to anyone interested along the Welsh border and Herefordshire region (from my base in the Kington area). You learn with your own camera and computer. I have found that the quickest and most memorable way to learn is to see techniques demonstrated in person with the opportunity to ask questions and get advice on a one-to-one basis, working at your own pace and developing the skills you want to develop.
Tuition is run on a sessional basis. The first session usually begins with me getting to know your equipment, skills and requirements, and then calibrating your monitor so that it renders balanced colours. After that you specify how many sessions you require and when (subject to availability).
